TigerVision began in 1989 as an elective class at Texas High School for high school students to learn video production. In 2000, The class became a Career and Technology Education program, based on the curriculum guidelines of Media Technology from the TEKS, Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills Chapter 125 for Trade and Industrial Education, Subchapter F. Communication and Media Systems, High School, Section 96. In 2001, the program downward expanded, by offering an 8th grade class under the TEKS-Video Technology, which is taught at Texas Middle School, aka TigerVision Jr. Some elementary programs are also offered. TigerVision has more than 350 students in Grades 8-12 in the program. TigerVision students compete annually on a national level through organizations such as STN-Student Television Network, Channel One News and many others.
